Alain Sylla is a passionate educator specializing in language teaching, intercultural communication, and the integration of technology in education. With extensive experience in online teaching, he helps learners develop their skills in Haitian Creole, French, and English through engaging, contextualized lessons that foster meaningful and culturally enriched connections, particularly in Haitian Creole.

He proudly calls Ayiti (Haiti) his birthplace and spiritual home; a land rich in resilience, culture, and history. Currently residing in Brazil, known by its Indigenous name, Pindorama, he has established strong personal and professional ties there, making it his second home.

As a Lead Linguist with #TeamJamii, Alain supports with a wide variety of language projects, including but not limited to, tech support for multilingual meetings, translation project management, and serving as a Lead Teacher for language classes.

Professionally fluent in five languages : Haitian Creole, French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish with a low-intermediate level in Italian,  he embraces his multilingual background as a bridge to understanding and sharing diverse perspectives. His academic pursuits include a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Technology, Innovation, and Communication (TIC). His dissertation project, “O Ensino de Crioulo Haitiano como Língua Estrangeira Online: Uma Análise das Práticas e Desafios” ("Teaching Haitian Creole as a Foreign Language Online: An Analysis of Practices and Challenges"), reflects his mission to enhance language education through innovative and culturally relevant methodologies.

Beyond teaching, he is a photographer and writer. He writes short stories in Haitian Creole and Portuguese and develops his own didactic materials to teach Haitian Creole as a foreign language, addressing the lack of resources for learners to study the language effectively.

By combining creativity with a commitment to education, he empowers his students to achieve their goals. Alain's values, lived experience, and professional expertise makes him well aligned to the mission, vision, and values of Jamii Linguists. His work is not just about teaching languages; it’s about fostering dialogue, connection, and growth, inspiring learners to see language as a pathway to understanding the world.  Alain brings his love for languages and cultures to life for everyone he connects with, increasing Jamii's capacity to guide partners and community members with multilingual community building.
